MotoJoe Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under UK data protection law.
Who We Are
MotoJoe Ltd is the data controller for the personal information collected through this website and our services.
Registered address: 226 High Street, Dalkeith, Midlothian, EH22 1AZ Email: info@motojoe.co.uk Website: www.motojoe.co.uk
MotoJoe Ltd also trades as rentamotorcycle and Motorrad Training.
What Data We Collect and Why
Training enquiries
When you submit a training enquiry, we collect your name, date of birth, contact details, address, driving licence number, licence category, and information about your previous riding experience and CBT or theory test history. We use this information to assess which course is most appropriate for you, to contact you about your enquiry, and to administer your training.
We collect your driving licence number to verify your entitlement to ride and to confirm your CBT history with the DVSA where necessary. This information is used solely for training administration and is not shared with third parties except where required by law or by the relevant licensing authority.
Motorcycle rental
When you complete a rental booking confirmation form, we collect your name, date of birth, contact details, address, occupation, driving licence details, and emergency contact information. We use this to process your rental, fulfil our insurance obligations, and comply with our terms and conditions.
Contact and general enquiries
When you contact us via the website contact form or by email, we collect your name, email address, and any information you choose to include in your message. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry.
Tour enquiries
Tour enquiries are handled by email. We collect your name and email address in order to respond and to provide information about our tours.
Rental calculator
The rental calculator collects information about your preferred dates and bike selection. This is used only to generate a quote and, if submitted, to prepare for your booking. We do not store calculator submissions beyond what is necessary to respond to you.
Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:
- Contractual necessity — to fulfil a booking or training place you have requested
- Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries and administer our services
- Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or share information by law (for example, for insurance or licensing purposes)
- Consent — where you have opted in to receive marketing communications
How Long We Keep Your Data
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. As a general guide:
- Training enquiry and customer records are retained for up to 7 years. This allows us to assist returning customers — for example, those renewing a CBT certificate (which is valid for 2 years) or progressing to further training — without them having to resubmit all their details.
- Rental booking records are retained for 7 years for insurance and accounting purposes.
- General enquiries and contact form submissions are retained for up to 7 years.
- Training records may be retained for longer where required by the relevant licensing authority or the DVSA.
Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information with:
- DVSA — where required to verify licence entitlement or CBT certificates
- Our insurers — in connection with rental bookings
- Service providers — including Netlify (website hosting and form processing) and Microsoft 365 (email, data storage, and spreadsheet records), both of whom process data on our behalf under appropriate data processing agreements. Information submitted through our website forms is stored securely in Microsoft 365 (SharePoint/Excel Online). Access is restricted to authorised MotoJoe staff only.
Cookies and Analytics
Our website uses cookies to help us understand how visitors use the site. We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to collect anonymised information about page visits and traffic sources. This data does not identify you personally.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Accepting or declining non-essential cookies does not affect your ability to use our services.
Your Rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

- Correct any inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (subject to our legal obligations)
- Object to or restrict certain types of processing
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used format
